BOYS WHO D.A.R.E

The boys who dream about reading everyday (d.a.r.e.) reading program is a grassroots community organization designed to promote literacy in young males residing in metro Atlanta and surrounding counties.

Our mission is simple; it is to offer every male child a full and equal literary opportunity regardless of their background, education, and parental income. While the program is geared to serve young boys, we strongly emphasize the importance of reading at an early age as well as empowerment intervention. We offer experiences that are designed to develop attitudes and skills necessary for academic achievement; foster positive and responsible behavior; as well as develop a sense of cultural and historical pride in the accomplishment of black men; by surrounding them with positive black male role models.

Male role models from the community come out and read to the boys monthly at John H. Harland Boys & Girls Club in Atlanta. Since our debut in October 2003, we have successfully gained sponsorship and Partnership from local organizations such as:

These strategic alliances with local organizations in our community allow us to better serve our increased membership without minimizing our events, or program objectives. Our long-term planning goals include, soliciting corporate and local sponsors to donate funds for books and materials, locating a permanent facility, and implementing a summer reading enrichment program.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
Live the life you have imagined.
